Puppy owners tend to enroll their pets in a puppy training class expecting that their pets will be able to do all the
tricks that they have seen on TV. What they do not know is that they should also make an effort to train their puppies
themselves.

Some owners tend to stick to the old belief that dogs must not start their training until they are 6 months old. This old belief has been contradicted by certain breeds of dogs such as the Great Dane or the Rottweiler. These specific
breeds of dogs are huge even before reaching their 6 months of age. This proves that training of puppies can start even at a young age of 4 months or earlier.

Note that effective training, however, will depend on what tricks you can teach to your puppy at a certain age. For example, a 3-month old puppy still has a short attention span and you cannot expect to successfully teach him a sit-stay behavior within a span of five minutes. It can, however, differentiate body language such that you can train him how to distinguish you from other people.

In training a puppy, owners must know that a puppy must be trained during the critical 12-to-20 week imprinting and
learning period, or else, your puppy will never reach his true potential. During this critical week, the owner should
expose his puppy to as many people and animals as possible. His puppy should experience every situation possible and in various places.

Owners can start teaching their puppies by spending time with their puppies and making an effort to keep them exposed
to different situations and people. Not only will your puppy grow accustomed to people and other dogs but a stronger bond will exist between you and his dog. Your puppy will immediately start to understand simple body language and become comfortable walking alongside his master.

If, however, an owner still wants to enroll their pets, he should first try to canvass different training schools.
The puppy training class of choice will depend on what the owner wants for his pet to learn. Each training school has its own style of training so it is best that they first observe training sessions so that they can choose what is best for their pet puppy.
